in halo 3 how do i ranks up to lutenant?

i am currently a gunnery sergant grade 2 with 65 EXP. what do i need to do to get to lutenant. do i have to play ranked matches?

I think by the time you get to level 10 in ranked matches you become a lieutenant. You can also play player matches till you earn enough experience (I think it is 200xp for lieutenant). Either way you just have to keep playing online and win or at rank high in the matches and your stats will go up.
