On Halo 3 Can you only earn EXP in Ranked Matches?

Can you earn Exp in all game types or just in ranked matches?
Also, do you only get a highest skill by playing only in Ranked Matches?

In halo you can earn total experiance in ranked and social but for your highest rank to go up you have to play ranked so if you want a good rank get your highest skill and total exp up.

You level up in ranked. Obviously, the more times you win, the higher your skill.

Social games still give out exp, just not a ranking. So if you play only social, you will have a really low overall rank. You need to play ranked to get your level up so you can level up easier. Then you can play social to get exp faster.
