i haven't played 3 yet but i can try to sum up the story from part 1&2 in part one Master Chief Spartan 117(john) awakens from a hyper sleep he went into when he left planet Reach...he is woken because they are being attacked by a collection of alien races that they are at war with called the Covenant he ends up evacuating the ship and end up on a ring world (Halo) he fights off the covenant tryin...he finds out that Halo is a weapon and thinks that the covenant are there to use it. They encounter another species of alien called the Flood which is a parasitic alien that burrows into both the covenant and the humans and use there bodies to fight. Master Chief is told he needs to activate the ring to stop the flood by a A.I. called guilty spark when he tries to activate it Cortana (master chiefs A.I.) stops him telling him that the halo ring will wipe absolutly everything it's to stop the flood from feeding. Guilty Spark turns on him and send the robotic drones called the sentinals after you. Master Chief and cortana decide to blow up Halo by self destructing the nuclear reactors inside you were in in the beginning of the game. The only survivors of the explosion was Master Chief, Cortana, the Sarge, and a covenant Elite later known as the arbiter.

In part 2 the covenant accidently find the planet earth and attack it so master chief tries to fend them off succesfully getting the covenant to retreat the Prophet of Regret, one of the covenant leaders. tries to escape through slipspace but masterchief inside a carrier space ship follows them. when they come out of slipspace they find they are near another Halo. Throughout this game you switch between the master chief and the arbiter a covenant elite that survived the first halo's destruction he is viewed as a heritic for letting the master chief, whom the covenant call the demon, destroy the "sacred ring" the elite finds favor in the prophets eyes and becomes some sort of hero which they have had many in the past called the arbiter. Master Chief goes onto the new Halo and fights both the covenant and Flood they find out there are 7 rings in total (i think) and all pose the same threat. Playing as the arbiter you are supposed to get the key to activate Halo in the process you find it a brute, one race of the covenant called Tarturus, betrays the arbiter and tries to kill him,he was ordered by the prophets. Both the master chief and the Arbiter come into contact with a giant flood being that actually seems inteligent he sends them both to different parts of the ring to search for the key so they can stop it because all 3 of them don't want the ring to activate. Master chief is in a covenant space ship on halo now he is fighting them off but the covenant seem to be fighting amongst themselves as well the reason is because the elite's have always been the backbone of the covenant and now the prophets are being replaced by the brutes and the certain races have sided with the elites and some with the brutes and there is all out war. Master Chief follows the Prophets. the prophets are attacked by flood and the prophet of mercy is killed by one. master chief leaves cortana to blow up a ship just like in part 1 if theyre are unable to stop the ring from activating. Master chief follows the prophet of truth into a ship that is goin toward earth and thats pretty much it for master chiefs part. the Arbiter however is fighting agains the brutes along with his elite brothers eventually he finally faces tarturus who activates the ring and somehow....gets some kinda force field that makes him invincible. either way he kills off tarturus and stops the ring from activating but it sends off a beam that is a signal for a remote activation for all the ring. they ask another kind of guilty spark where the activation is he tells them it is on the ark which seems to be on earth. thats the end of the game there is a small cutscene after the credits where the giant flood thing tells cortana that he has questions and she is going to answer them. She tells him to go ahead and thats that.

just in case you dont know anything at all about halo the covenant are made up of about 7 different races of alien, grunts small really easy to kill aliens but annoying in big packs, jackals a bigger vulture like alien that usually has a energy shield also the snipers, elite's the main enemy really tall have four mandibles for a mouth and have energy shielded armor, hunters giant metal armored enemies who have giant fuel rod cannons embeded into their armor and have spines on there back only vulnerable on the unarmored orange spots on the torso the back and the neck, in part 2 new aliens come out the buggers annoying flying aliens are really annoying and the brutes big hairy ape like aliens that travel in packs of two(like hunters) but when the partner is killed the other is goes berserk drops his weapon and charges like crazy, and finally the prophets they are the leaders of the covenant you only fight one on halo 2 but there are only 3 prophet of regret, mercy and truth

thats it in a nutshell lol lots of info
