what exactly happens at the end of halo 3?

we see that the arbiter and the chief make it onto the frigate, correct.

we then see a sequence where thr arbiter climbs out of a wreck, presumably on earth. and we see him talkin to the old white dude in charge,

my question is, why didnt the chief go with him, why does he (after the credits) remain on the frigate floating through space, and then goes into a cryo chamber.


is there any particular reason or is it something that nobody knows?

dont ever expect bungie to finish the ending of their stories, they never have and they never will, they never did with marathon(if u dont no what that is then u cant call urself a halo fan=gtfo the internet)
they will never tie up the loose ends.....its sad because although the story was REALLY REALLY clitche it was still decent

When the frigate goes through the portal, the portal closes as they are half way through, tearing the ship in two. Master Chief was stuck in the half of the ship that got left behind when the portal closed. Cortanna puts out a signal but they guessed it would take many years before anyone finds them, so Master Chief decides to go into a cryo chamber until then.
