Why doesn't my 120GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive record anything from my Halo 3

saved multiplayer and campaign videos? You know when you press the X button during a saved film and it brings up the little fast forward, rewind, play, pause, and record setting? Well I can't record anything from my saved films in Halo 3 using a 120GB hard drive. How come? Am I only able to do that for Xbox Live matches or is there a setting that I have to fix?
