xbox live problems...as soon asi buy halo 3...of course...please help!?

I just bought halo 3, and of course i want to play multiplayer on xbox live. Only problem is, I can't get on F'ing Xbox live! It keeps saying "xbox live has an update for your system. You must download update to sign on to xbox live" or something like that, but when I try to download the update it says "can not download update...test your system connection". When i test my system connections, it says that everything is ok, except when it gets to the portion of the test for xbox live,it says "failed", but it won't tell me why. I've made sure that everything is plugged in tight, and everything is hooked up just like it always has been...anybody have any ideas? You'll be my hero if you solve my problem. I've been waiting way too long for some capture the flag for this crap to be happening now!

that happen to me before. turn off everything for about 3 mins, including your Internet source. then try it again.

Try what Markhurls mentioned, if that doesn't work I suggest you go to the *Official* Xbox Website in their Xbox Live section which specifically tells you what you need and step by step instructions on how to connect to Xbox Live. Below is the link:

Try the following brother... it should work.

To clear the cache on the Xbox 360 do the following:

* Go to the Xbox Dashboard, select the System Blade, and select Memory.
* Highlight the HD symbol and press Y.
* Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.

You will see a confirmation message to confirm system maintenance, proceed.
